The zoning arrangement of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ankpa, Omala, Olamaboro Federal Constituency has sparked renewed debate among party stakeholders, with calls for fairness, inclusiveness, and strategic balance in ticket allocation.

Observers note that the initial plan to zone the House of Representatives ticket to Olamaboro Local Government Area and micro zone it to Imane, while allocating the Senate slot to Ankpa, was widely seen as a thoughtful and politically balanced decision. The arrangement was expected to strengthen party unity and ensure equitable representation across the constituency.

Under this framework, Engr. Abubakar Isah Lucky who is recognized by supporters for his longstanding contributions to the party’s growth and stability was considered a strong contender for the House of Representatives seat a reason for which he was unanimously endorsed by the party executives and stakeholders.

However, the recent declaration of interest by Barr. Abubakar Usman Yahaya, reportedly from Ankpa where the Senate ticket has already been zoned, has generated concerns among party loyalists.

Critics argue that allowing one area to dominate both the Senate and House of Representatives tickets risks undermining the principles of fairness and inclusivity, potentially alienating other segments of the constituency.

Stakeholders have therefore urged the PDP leadership to revisit its zoning decision to maintain internal balance and cohesion.

They emphasize the importance of presenting candidates who not only enjoy grassroots support but also reflect the broader interests of the entire federal constituency.

As consultations continue, party members insist that a transparent and equitable approach will be critical in preserving unity and enhancing the PDP’s chances in upcoming elections.
