Chief Edward David Onoja, former Deputy Governor of Kogi State and political strategist, has weighed in on the unfolding political season as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initiates the electoral process. In a statement shared on his social media platform, Onoja observed that while political declarations are increasing and aspirants are stepping forward, heightened scrutiny will ultimately separate serious contenders from the rest.
He emphasized that political ambition alone is insufficient, noting that the true measure of a candidate lies in their organizational strength, structure, and preparedness rather than rhetoric. According to him, the phase of purchasing nomination forms and undergoing party screening will expose the depth and viability of each aspirant.
Onoja further pointed out that beyond internal party processes, the decisive stage remains the primaries and, ultimately, the electorate. He stressed that voters are likely to favor candidates who demonstrate credibility, clarity, and genuine connection over mere political noise.
Concluding his remarks, he described the current moment as a transition from theory to action, signaling that the political “examination” period has begun and aspirants must now prove their readiness.
