Ankpa Constituency Stands Firm on Popular Mandate, Warns Against Political Imposition
The people of Ankpa Federal Constituency have once again demonstrated their long-standing commitment to truth, justice, and uprightness in political decision-making.
Speaking under the auspices of the Igala Elite Forum for Democratic Values, prominent stakeholders have raised concerns over alleged moves to sideline the widely accepted aspirant, Engr. Abubakar Isah Lucky, in favor of another candidate.
According to the Forum, Engr. Lucky’s track record of consistent support for party development and structure over the years sets him apart as a deserving candidate. They emphasized that his contributions predate the current election cycle, earning him the trust and unanimous endorsement of party executives and stakeholders across Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro Local Government Areas.
The endorsement, they noted, followed due process, particularly after the House of Representatives ticket was zoned to Olamaboro and micro-zoned to Imane, making his candidacy both strategic and widely accepted.
The Forum further revealed concerns about alleged attempts to influence certain elders from Ankpa, particularly those based in Abuja, to support the imposition of a new aspirant against the will of the people. Describing such moves as undemocratic, they warned that any effort to override the popular choice could trigger internal conflict within the People’s Democratic Party.
“As an opposition party striving to regain power and restore its lost glory, the PDP must tread carefully,” the Forum stated. “Ignoring the clearly expressed will of the people may lead to avoidable crises that could weaken the party’s chances in the general elections.”
They also called on respected elders to uphold their integrity and avoid involvement in actions that could undermine democratic consensus within the constituency.
Reaffirming their position, the Forum urged party leadership at all levels to prioritize unity, fairness, and respect for grassroots decisions. They stressed that sustaining internal democracy remains critical to building trust and achieving electoral success.
In conclusion, the people of Ankpa Federal Constituency have made their position clear: the mandate belongs to the people, and it must be respected. Any deviation from this path, they warned, could have lasting political consequences not only for the constituency but for the party as a whole.
