The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers, including Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs), following the elevation of 84 officers across various ranks.
The ceremony, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, highlighted what the IGP described as a merit-based recognition of professionalism, discipline, and leadership capacity within the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the promotions are part of broader efforts to strengthen leadership and improve operational effectiveness.
IGP Disu urged the officers to uphold high standards, stressing zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline, and misconduct. He also reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to people-centered policing, respect for human rights, and stronger community engagement.
As part of capacity building, newly promoted AIGs are set to undergo a strategic leadership retreat in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, aimed at enhancing modern policing practices.
