Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), has announced another major breakthrough in its ongoing search and rescue operations, with the successful rescue of six additional abducted victims in Borno State.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, the victims—four adults and two infants—were rescued by troops during a coordinated air and ground operation at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area.
The military disclosed that the rescued individuals were among those abducted in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, in May 2026. They have since been evacuated to a secure location, where they are undergoing medical evaluation and receiving appropriate care.
Operation HADIN KAI also provided the victims with immediate relief materials and other basic necessities to help ease the trauma of their experience, while arrangements are being made for their safe reunion with their families.
The Theatre Command described the latest rescue as another indication of the effectiveness of the ongoing search and rescue mission, carried out in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, other security agencies, and auxiliary forces.
The statement further revealed that troops are maintaining sustained pressure on fleeing terrorists. During operations along the insurgents’ withdrawal routes, soldiers recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the terrorists, a development the military said reflects the growing impact of its offensive operations.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the search and rescue mission until all remaining abducted persons are safely recovered.
The military also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies. It further advised citizens to avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
