The Nigerian Army has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyinyechi Appolonia as its first female Acting Director of Army Public Relations, marking a significant milestone in the service’s history. This appointment underscores the growing recognition of female officers’ vital contributions in strategic leadership positions.

ABOUT LT COL ANELE

– Member of Direct Regular Course 15

– Active member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)

– Previously served as Public Relations Officer at the Office of the Chief of Army Staff

– Most recently deployed to the Department of Civil-Military Relations at Defence Headquarters, where she excelled in strategic communication roles

Lt Col Anele will officially take over from Major General Onyema Nwachukwu on April 22, 2025, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre. This development highlights the Nigerian Army’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in its leadership structure.
