The acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has arrived in Sokoto for his maiden operational visit to the 8th Division Area of Responsibility.
During his visit, Oluyede is expected to meet with key stakeholders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, and address troops from Operation Fasan Yamma who are battling terrorists in the northwest region.
The visit comes at a critical time, as the Defence Headquarters recently confirmed the emergence of a new terror group, Lakurawa, in Sokoto and Kebbi states.
Five local government areas in Sokoto are currently facing challenges from this group.
Oluyede’s visit aims to boost morale and strategy among the troops, ensuring they are equipped to tackle the growing security concerns in the region
